Hi everyone, instead of the usual quote, book review or update on my journey as an author, I wanted to share something a little more important. I recently volunteered for MIFQ (Mental Illness Fellowship Queensland) to assist with an art exhibition held at King George Square in Brisbane City. The exhibition had over 300 pieces of work by more than 160 artists with a lived experience of mental illness. I have to say, I was blown away by the quality of the artwork. As an artist and writer myself, it was amazing to see so many visual works displayed in the heart of Brisbane.
The exhibition helps to raise awareness of mental illness and art can help with the recovery of those affected by it. If you get the chance to check out the exhibition next year, I would recommend that you do. Every piece of art tells its own story and I found some of the work on display to be extremely interesting. At the very least you can admire some excellent art work, and who knows, maybe you will find some inspiration there.
Everyone has a story, how interesting is yours?
